I would like to start this comeback off with a late celebration of our one year wedding anniversary. A long, long time ago, I started writing this blog as a documentary to my wedding planning experience. From this blog, I opened Love & Laughter Events, LLC with my best friend. We have continued to grow beyond our wildest imaginations and enjoy each and every couple we get to work with while they plan and execute their special day.
A few more things have happened since my last posting so here is a quick breakdown:
- We rescued the cutest little bundle of energy, Kona.
- I started a new position as an Executive Assistant.
- We made our first big purchase as a married couple ... a new car!
We took the Amtrak Surfliner up the coast which made the close destination feel like a true vacation. We packed the essentials for our train ride - Champagne and Goldfish. I am sure there aren't many of you that have enjoyed Veuve out of a Styrofoam cup, but when in need, it will do!
We had a lovely stay at the fabulous Hotel Santa Barbara. This history in this hotel and old elevator are some of the highlights as well as being just a step outside and onto State Street!
Saturday we enjoyed ourselves wine tasting in the Funk Zone. Our favorite winery by far was Kunin where we enjoyed our tasting of the 2014 Pape Star Rougue. For dinner, we over indulged in a delicious meal at Opal. This restaurant was HIGHLY recommended by hotel staff, Santa Barbara locals and friends. We were not disappointed. I had the Arborio Risotto with Sauteed Wild Mushrooms, Fresh Asparagus and Artichokes while Chris was more than satisfied with the Paella... Fresh Steamed Mussels, Manila Clams, Bay Scallops, Tiger Shrimp, Chicken and Chorizo Sausage. Of course, we had dessert as well which was a perfect French Vanilla Bean Creme Brulee. Oh, and we also enjoyed the Kunin Pape Star Rougue so much, we bought a bottle of it with our dinner!
Then, since I am a Bravo fanatic, as many of you know, we stocked Andy Cohen who was just 2 blocks from our dinner finishing AC2 with Anderson Cooper. Unfortunately, I did not get to meet him, but I did see the back of his head!
Sunday morning we walked the beach, which was beautiful, see middle photo. The pier has gorgeous marina views, ocean views and mountain views. We sat out there for a while in silence enjoying all that Santa Barbara had to offer. Then we took an Uber up to The Boathouse, which was also highly recommended by a friend and did not disappoint. Chris enjoyed a Bloody Mary alongside his Boathouse Signature Breakfast while I had a Mimosa with my French Toast. We also had to try their homemade biscuits so we had one on the side that was just perfection.
After brunch, we sat on the beach. Did I mention Boathouse is literally right on the beach?? Worth the wait but you must sit on the patio! We sat on the beach watching the surfers, doggies and wind sailors for about an hour before making our way back to the hotel to check out.
All in all, it was a fabulous weekend getaway and I would highly recommend Santa Barbara to all!
XO.
